Setting Up Recurring Payments

How to set up a recurring payment plan in PayStack—amount, start date, frequency, occurrences, and card vaulting—plus what happens after creation and syncing.

Setting Up Recurring Payments

Recurring payments are ideal for orthodontic work, membership-style services, or larger treatment plans where a patient pays over time.

🔁

Once a recurring plan is created, charges run automatically on schedule and post back to the patient record on the day they occur.

What you’ll set up

  • Payment amount
  • Start date
  • Frequency
  • Total number of occurrences
  • The payment method (vaulted card or a new card that will be vaulted)

Step-by-step

  1. Choose Recurring Payments (or Payment Plans) in PayStack.
  1. Select the patient.
  1. Enter the amount, start date, frequency, and number of occurrences.
  1. Choose the payment method:
      • If there’s already a card on file, select it.
      • If not, enter the card details and allow PayStack to vault it securely for future charges.
  1. Review the schedule, then click Create / Save.

What happens next

  • Each scheduled charge runs automatically.
  • Each charge posts back to the patient record in your PMS.

Helpful reminders

  • If the patient updates their card, you’ll need to update the payment method used by the plan.
  • If you cancel a plan, no future scheduled charges will run.
